As the sky grew black and opened wide
The legion of angels with broken wings, fell; crashing onto the earth…..
And then god cried

Once his laws had all been dismissed
He told one righteous man to make himself ready…..
And then god cried

To buy back that which he had only loaned to you
He had; tortured and slain his only begotten child…..
And then god cried

Man learned how to very efficiently destroy one another and all that
surrounded him
Then he justified it by claiming this destruction, to be in god's name
- he still does it today…..
And then god cried

One cold day, I hit my knees and spoke his name, and was assured
that he would be with me forever
He sent me his angel instead, to be with me, to protect me,
to guide me - and one day…….. she walked away……. far away…..
And then god cried

For the first time in forever I found myself alone, lost,
confused and scared;
And then I cried…..
'Cause god had lied

On that day, I ripped that page, the one that held his name;
from my heart
Re-bandaged my wounds, the hole in my heart -
and the old scabs on my back from the sawn off wings…..
And then god died
